St Andrew’s & St George’s West Church, 13 George Street in Edinburgh is the venue for a major Housing and Homelessness Hustings event on Wed 23 March. Put on jointly by Edinburgh City Centre Churches Together, the Chartered Institute of Housing in Scotland and the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, the event will feature representatives of the five major parties competing for seats at Holyrood in May.
This is the public's chance to quiz candidates across the range of political views, and make clear the importance of housing and homelessness in the election campaign. This is the last election before the target date of 2012, set by the Scottish Parliament to give an entitlement to settled housing to everyone applying to their local authority as homeless.
The event is free, and will be chaired by Dr Alison Elliot, Convener of Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations. Doors open at 5.30 pm for a 6.00 pm start.
