On Friday 28 September we held our 24th AGM, at the Church of Scotland offices in George Street. Prior to the business meeting our Associate Convener, Very Rev Dr Russell Barr, gave a presentation on the Scottish Government’s Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Action Group, looking at the picture of homelessness in Scotland, the recommendations of the group, and what progress has been made since. It was an inspiring, personal and very informative presentation, and will be of interest to anyone concerned about, or working to tackle, the issues surrounding homelessness. Russell has kindly made his presentation slides available here.
At the business meeting following lunch, we bade farewell to long-serving Board member and former SCHA Convener, Joe Cassidy. Joe has represented the Scottish Episcopal Church on the Board since 2008, and he was thanked for all his years of service to SCHA. Co-opted Board member Liann Weir stood down from the Board in March this year, and was also thanked for her valued contributions. Liann had extended her time on the Board to participate in the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive, following Alastair Cameron’s retirement.
The AGM noted the appointment to the Board of Mary Cox in January 2018, appointed by the General Meeting for Scotland of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
The meeting agreed to the re-appointment of Co-opted Board members John Kitson, Rev Dr Graeme Wilson, and Rev Muriel Pearson.
New Chief Executive, David Cressey, and Development Manager, Heather Zajac were formally welcomed to the staff team.
