Scottish Churches Housing Action was established in 1995 because of unacceptably high levels of homelessness. Two decades on, our work is still needed.
So we have a programme of awareness-raising and campaigning for change, which supports our practical work to help homeless people and provide more homes.
Sign up here for our periodic e-newsletter and our twice-yearly paper news, Our Homeless Neighbour.
Email us to arrange for a talk to your group – Guild, Mothers’ Union, Peace & Justice, Catenian or Rotary, or any other. We are happy to provide pulpit speakers.
We work with our partner Housing Justice to put on Homeless Sunday each year. The next Homeless Sunday will be on 7 October 2018. This is the churches’ opportunity to remember homeless people in worship, to make links with homelessness projects, and to speak out for justice in housing.
“At the moment the best we are doing is managing homelessness…without a collective endeavour by central and local government working with the voluntary sector, I see little hope of us ending it.”
Rt Rev Dr Russell Barr, SCHA Associate Convener
